Anti-Slavery Day Awards 2021: Nominations Open

The Human Trafficking Foundation holds an annual Awards Ceremony to mark Anti-Slavery Day, supported by Marsh Awards. We recognise the work of groups or individuals who fight Modern Slavery and human trafficking in the UK and internationally. The Human Trafficking Foundation’s annual awards also recognise the vital work of the media in increasing awareness and understanding of modern slavery.

Anyone working to fight modern slavery will be able to vote for the winners using our online voting page once nominations are closed.

OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION TO THE FIGHT AGAINST SLAVERY

The Marsh Awards for Outstanding Contribution to the Fight Against Slavery recognise the work of groups or individuals who fight Modern Slavery in the UK and Internationally. There are four awards to recognise exemplary work which has a significant impact on the fight against modern slavery and each award winner will receive a grant of £1000. We welcome nominations from voluntary, public and private sectors.

  1. Reducing Vulnerabilities (Advocacy Award) 

    This category recognises those working to achieve systemic change to reduce the prevalence of trafficking or improving outcomes for survivors’ rights and entitlements on a long-term basis. Examples of work within this category could include campaigns to support individuals to access their rights or work for rights-based policy change.

     

    2.      Rebuilding Lives (Frontline Award) 

    This category recognises those in the sector working to enhance support for survivors. It considers work that takes a holistic approach to addressing individual needs and helps survivors rebuild their lives and strengthen resilience.

    3.     Empowering Survivor Voices

    This category recognises the truly remarkable impact of survivor leaders’ voices who have shaped the agenda in the sector and empowered others to do the same. This award also celebrates those in the sector whose work is consistently informed by the lived experienced of survivors. 

     

    4.      Statutory Services Award

    This category recognises the outstanding contribution of statutory services who have gone above and beyond their legal duties to respond to modern slavery. Examples of work within this category could be an individual who has championed modern slavery or an organisation who has embedded a systems change approach.

To nominate a person or organisation you believe deserves to be recognised for their work, please complete our outstanding contribution nomination form and return to jasmine@humantraffickingfoundation.org no later than 24th August.

MEDIA

We welcome nominations of any UK media journalist or writer for work covering issues of modern slavery or human trafficking either in the UK or globally in the following categories:

1.      Best written opinion piece dealing with modern slavery or human trafficking

2.      Best news piece dealing with modern slavery or human trafficking 

3.      Best investigative news article dealing with modern slavery or human trafficking

4.      Special award for media outlet making an outstanding contribution to the fight against slavery
